2017 Breakfast and Friend of Human Rights

The Latah County Human Rights Task Force Inc. invites you to attend Moscow’s 24th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Community Breakfast

Saturday, January 21, 2017

Location: Moscow Middle School Multi-Purpose Room, 1410 East D St.
Cost: $ 8.00 general admission $ 4.00 students/children (see form below for submission by mail). Tickets also available at Paradise Ridge CD’s 117 East Third Street in Moscow (Starting January 5th).

Program Feature:

This year’s featured speaker will be Mark Trahant, a Native American journalist and faculty member at North Dakota University who will speak on “Environmental Justice.”

 

Trahant is a member of Idaho’s Shoshone-Bannock Tribe, and a former president of the Native American Journalists Association. He has served as editor of the editorial page for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer,. and is a former columnist at The Seattle Times and has been publisher of the Moscow-Pullman Daily News in Moscow, Idaho; executive news editor of The Salt Lake Tribune; a reporter at the Arizona Republic in Phoenix; and has worked at several tribal newspapers. Trahant reports and comments on events and trends on his blog at TrahantReports.Com and on and other social media. He does a weekly audio commentary for Native Voice One.

In addition to Trahant’s address the January 21st Breakfast will include presentation of the Rosa Parks Human Rights Achievement Awards and presentation of winners of the Martin Luther King Jr. Art and Essay Contest.

FOOD DRIVE COLLECTION:
The Latah County Human Rights Task Force is requesting that attendees at the Breakfast bring cans or boxes of non-perishable items for distribution to local food banks.

The Latah County Human Rights Task Force invites you to a Community Breakfast to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr./Human Rights Day and to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the cause of human rights in our area.

The ticket fee will cover the costs of the breakfast. We encourage you to make an additional contribution of $ 15.00 or more to become a Friend of Human Rights and to assist the Task Force’s community activities.

SEATING IS LIMITED AND THE BREAKFAST SELLS OUT EACH YEAR ENSURE YOUR PLACE BY SENDING IN THIS FORM BY JAN. 16TH.

YOU WILL THEN BE SENT A TICKET TO ATTEND.

The Latah County Task Force Inc. would also welcome your payment to become a Friend of Human Rights.
